It’s time to get your party on at one of the UK and Ireland’s top bars and clubs. No matter where you are in this lovely Anglo-Saxon neck of the woods, you can rest assured that you will have a rollicking good time.
Let’s start off with Wales. In Wales, like much of the smaller towns in the UK, pubs are at the center of social life. You can eat, drink, and be merry at the neighborhood pub. But if you’re in the capital of Cardiff you may want to try something different. The vibrant nightlife will keep you up until the wee hours. Try the Mimosa Kitchen & Bar if you want something on the trendier side that still retains a Welsh feeling. It has an extensive cocktail menu and a large selection of beer. The menu is locally sourced and full of Welsh classics.
Now if it’s Ireland you’re headed to, you can’t leave until you grab a pint of Guinness, aka the Black Stuff. If you’re lucky you may even get to hear some traditional Irish music. In Dublin, try Dicey’s the spot for nearby professionals. The spacious beer garden is the perfect place for a group of friends. It gets packed most nights, so make sure to arrive early.
Over in London, local beer which had previously been in a bit of a slump has been resuscitated. Microbreweries and brewpubs have sprouted up everywhere. To try some of these great locally breweries try the interestingly named bar Spread Eagle. Greek pillars, an old-fashioned style bar, and impressive staircase give the bar an air of class while you swig down a local brew.
Last but not least, in the land of the Scots, Edinburgh is leading the cocktail trend with an array of swanky bars for imbibing. The Raconteur took a cue from the hush-hush trend, by not really making a big fuss about their opening. The décor and menu is understated, while the cocktails are old-fashioned. With beverages served in cold vintage glasses with pretzels, you’ll feel just like Don Draper.
Choosing a wine doesn’t have to be as daunting as it seems. Wine is no more complex that beer or whiskey. As long as you know what you’re doing no one will know you’re a novice. So before you go to that BYOB, read up.
